Ifyou upgraded to macOS Catalina from any prior macOS and you had Pages '08 or '09 installed, these were 32-bit applications and no longer compatible with Catalina which requires 64-bit only applications. Hence the translucent ring with slash through the incompatible Pages application icon.
Have you ever installed Pages from the Mac App Store since Oct 2013? If not, there is no means to get the last compatible version of Pages v11.1 for Catalina, and you will need to use Pages for iCloud instead.

Pages is still alive and well. You may want to reply with more information about what is happening when you try to open Pages.
