Swipe up to unlock taking screenshot on iPad

I know this has been asked elsewhere but there was no solution offered so far and it is starting to get annoying.

Swipe up from the middle edge of the screen on an iPad in Landscape and it takes a screenshot instead of just unlocking the device. Have not installed beta’s on this device and it has happened across all iPadOS 16 versions (inc 16.3). iPad has been restarted multiple times during this time.

I am using it with the Magic Keyboard in case that is a variable.

Hi iSub83,

Thanks for posting here in Apple Support Communities. Does this only happen when you are in Landscape mode on your iPad? Does your iPad take a screenshot in landscape mode if you follow the steps here? See: Take a screenshot on your iPad

How to take a screenshot on an iPad without a Home button
1. Press the top button and either volume button at the same time.*

2. Quickly release both buttons.
3. After you take a screenshot, a thumbnail temporarily appears in the lower-left corner of your screen. Tap the thumbnail to open it or swipe left to dismiss it.

Kind regards.
