Notes are gone

At work we have both a MacBook and a Mac. We use Notes on both machines.

I noticed that the notes were not synced. The ones on the Mac were sort of "outdated" compared to the Macbook.

I Primarily use Notes on Macbook, so that's where the problem is.

I tried to sync by doing this on the Macbook:

Notes --> Accounts... --> iCloud --> Unchecked and re-checked Notes

After this all the notes in the app disappeared...

I got them back by signing into iCloud in the Notes app and now the Notes are synced with the Mac. Problem is now that all my newer notes on the MacBook are gone. Help please!

Hello Kristian_Kettner,

We understand that you're missing notes. We have some information to provide that can help with retrieving this data.

First, try restarting both of the computers, and checking to see if the issue remains. Sometimes a simple restart can clear up an issue like this. Also, to rule out a software issue, make sure that you're using the latest version of software on both computers.

Update macOS on Mac

You might want to also double check the Recently Deleted folder in Notes. The page below will guide you on how to check that, if needed.
