AirPlay password to add speaker?

I’m am trying to add a Blusound Node streamer to Airplay. When I try to add a speaker via the Music app or widget it asks for an Airplay password. Past advice which suggests going to the Home app>Home Settings is useless on the most recent versions of the app. If I ever set an Airplay password I have no clue what it is, where to find it or how to reset it. Help!

Hi vinniefromflatbush,

Is your speaker also connected to another device such as an Apple TV? If you use an Apple TV as your Home hub, you can go into your Airplay Settings to disable the password requirement.

  1. Go to Settings > Airplay and HomeKit
  2. Tap Require password and disable this.

Once completed, you can attempt to Airplay again.

Have a good one!

Hi vinniefromflatbush,

You mentioned difficulties accessing Home Settings on the most recent version, but have you tried these exact steps from Allow others to control accessories in your home yet?

"Allow others to access your AirPlay 2-enabled speakers and TVs

  1. On the Home tab, tap the More button.
  2. Tap Home Settings > Allow Speaker & TV Access, then choose an option.

You can allow everyone, anyone on the same network, or only people you’ve invited to share the home. You can also require a password that allows speaker access. To learn more about HomePod speaker and Apple TV access, see the HomePod User Guide and Apple TV User Guide."

In that menu, you can choose to require a password and also see or reset the password. If you're using a different version than iOS 16, that can be changed in the drop down at the top of the page to view appropriate steps to reach this section.

Regards.

Hello vinniefromflatbush,

The best thing to do from here then would be to keep partnering with Apple directly which you have to see if there are any other steps and could look into the matter further with you. Here's a link to get in touch with them directly and feel free to provide what you've been told by either Bluesound or the other Apple advisor: Get Support

Take care.
