Ventura 13.2 recovery mode after installation reboot

Now in 3rd Install of Ventura—

2nd reinstall of 13.2 update.

Yes first install updater was very quick but came with issues. Lots of notifications on startup, Apple ID highlighted each startup and needed password but the red dot is notification did not disappear in ICloud settings.

Yesterday Apple tech after 70 minutes of trying things had me reinstall system. New issues today. Messages not syncing automatically. Today’s Apple tech again tried various things and finally said need to reinstall system — which is now in progress — starts at 5 hours 10 minutes. I had the first MAC and many others after and not used to this kind of mess up.

Computer is new MacBook Pro 14.2” 2021 M1 1TB from B&H Photo. Came with Monterey. I updated to Ventura and followed updates as announced. Usually I wait a couple of weeks but not this time.

So let’s see if 2nd reinstall works.

I had the same problem with a brand-new M2 Max MBP 16". It became frozen in the recovery mode, so I had to force restart. I'm seriously considering returning the laptop - I have only a few days left.

No problems at all, and I've got a lot running on this thing.

I wrote that message from my phone while I was waiting for things to come back after that recovery screen and request for authentication. It seemed off because the progress bar was jumping a little and the screen went black one or twice. This is my work computer and I had a ton of stuff to do today so I was extra concerned about it.

Hopefully this little thread can help some other worried person feel better if this happens to them.

Yes, I’m in the middle of exactly what you’re describing. Everything seems to have come back fine but it was very worrisome.
