Airdrop from iPhone

When I send a photo from my iPhone to my Mac via Airdrop, it appears with HEIC at the end instead of JPG or one of the other designations. Often, I can't get them to attach to emails, and when I can, they are unseeable at the other end.

How can I change it to JPG or another?

iPhone 6s, iOS 14

Yes, you can force the iPhone to use the older, less efficient, lower resolution jpg format. Go to Settings/Camera/Formats and tap Most Compatible. Most newer photo organizers and editors can handle HEIF/HEIC images that take up less space and save as higher quality than jpg.
