remove calendar inbox notifcations

With the last update on my iPhone, I am now getting calendar inbox notifications for every calendar connected to my work account, even though I only have my own calendar selected to view. I don't want to see a number of unresponded to inbox items, especially when they are not if they are not truly my own calendar inbox.

I want to turn off this feature as I don't use my phone to accept invites, and I cannot accept invites on behalf of my co-workers who have shared their calendars with me.

iPhone 11, iOS 16

This happens to me too. My solution is to unsync and resync with the server:

  • go to Settings / Main, Contacts, Callendars
  • in the Accounts group, go to the appropriate account (for me, it always happens with MS Exchange)
  • Switch off Calendars (events will not be synced from this server any more)
  • You will be asked whether you are sure, because it will delete all the events that are currently synced from this server. Don't worry, they will remain on the server. They will be just deleted from your phone, including the stuck invitation.
  • Wait a moment
  • Switch on Calendars again
  • Now you can go to Calendar app. Events from that server will be missing, but will be being downloaded again. After a short while, all the events will be back in your calendar, but the stuck invitation will be cleared.

I had 7,000+ notifications in my Calendar Inbox. It happened when a family member did an update (not intentional) and deleted 7,000+ calendar events over the last 10+ years. This is how I stopped seeing the notifications:

-Go to Calendar

-Select "Calendars" from the bottom menu: Today/Calendars/Inbox

-Select the "i" from the appropriate shared calendar

-Turn off "Show Changes"

I no longer see the 7,000+ notifications of the deleted events (though they may exist in The Upside Down, I no longer see them).

Hello a17parker,

We understand you're getting unwanted event invites in Calendar. We realize that you did not sign up for a spam calendar, but this article has some steps that may help stop the invites and notifications: Delete spam calendars and events on iPhone.

"If you get unwanted calendar invitations or event notifications, you might have accidentally subscribed to a spam calendar. To remove the events, delete the calendar subscription.

How to remove calendar spam on your iPhone in iOS 14.6 or later

  1. Open the Calendars app.
  2. Tap the unwanted Calendar event.
  3. Tap Unsubscribe from this Calendar at the bottom of the screen.
  4. To confirm, tap Unsubscribe.

How to remove calendar spam on your iPhone in earlier versions of iOS

  1. Open the Calendar app.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, tap Calendars.
  3. Look for a calendar that you don't recognize. Tap the More Info button  next to that calendar, then scroll down and tap Delete Calendar.

If this doesn't fix the issue, delete the calendar subscription in Settings:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Calendar > Accounts. Or if you use iOS 13, tap Passwords & Accounts > Accounts instead.
  3. Tap Subscribed Calendars.
  4. Look for a calendar that you don't recognize. Tap it, then tap Delete Account.

Lager1, for us, it’s not a spam calendar or older operating system that is causing the issue. I have the latest updates on my iPhone 13 Pro. It is a problem when you’re the super user email address for your company (under gmail business accounts) and your employees email addresses also are under you. On the iPhone, the employee calendars are unchecked for the calendar in the calendar app yet their invites they have not replied to still pop up as Invites in your owners calendar. There is not a way to turn these “invites” off. I think the calendar app needs a way to turn in and off individual connected subcalendar invites. This problem started occurring with apple maybe about a year ago. It did not used to happen. It is something new. Ok, in my case I managed to solve it, but it is not iOS the problem, apparently in my case, so I will try to explain myself in the best way.

1. identify which calendar has the unwanted event (I repeat, in my case, it was the Outloock.com calendar).

2. unlink the iOS calendar, in Setteings>Calendar>Accounts>Hotmail = uncheck calendar and refresh

3. on a computer, go to outloock.com and open the calendar section, drop down all and locate the one that was linking to the unwanted event.

4. delete the event in outlook.com, and make sure I don't have any more related or undesirable events in the future.

5. go back to iOS, and re-check the calendar that had been deactivated, to re-activate it and sync the events again.

this is how I managed to get rid of this unwanted event, I hope I made myself clear and I hope this little explanation is useful to you.

Hello- Is there a way to stop the inbox notifications? I don't want to respond to meeting invites on my phone but having the message saying I have 15 things in my inbox is driving me nuts. There doesn't seem to be a way to delete the notifications or just indicate that you've seen them. I do not want to stop general notifications. Just the inbox....a feature I could do without.

I agree - I have a related issue. My family members shares our calendars. Why do we need to accept every event in the calendar inbox - I have already indicated that I want their calendar to display by virtue of accepting their calendar onto mine...I shouldn't need to ok every event. Can this be removed or is there a mass delete? Clicking each one is a serious drag. Thanks for any help someone can provide!

Instructions suggested here do not work. I have iOS16.4.1 as of this morning. I open Calendars, open the Calendar Event, and for step 3 - there is not an Unsubscribe from this Calendar at the bottom of the screen. There is only Accept, Maybe, and Decline. I click Accept, and within a few moments the Inbox in Calendar shows the same item again. Have Accepted several times, it reappears. I tried deleting the e-mail that included the invitation from Mail. It still reappears. How do I make the little red notifciation bubble go away in Calendar? How do I get the calendar item to stop reappearing in Calendar Inbox even after I have accepted the meeting?

I get regular Spam calendar events in my hotmail account - but just on the Phone.

What works for me is Settings > Calendar > Accounts > 'selecting the hotmail account' > switch off Calendars

In the warning I click 'Delete from My iPhone', which removes all my hotmail calendar events from my iPhone.

After this I switch the Calendar on again, wait a couple of minutes until my events get downloaded and so far every time the unwanted Spam calendar event is gone.
