Cannot connect to WiFi in recovery

Hello,

So I start in Internet Recovery mode,

Connect to WiFi,

After the download is finished and recovery (Ventura) started,

I use Disk Utility to erase the SSD,

But now,

I can't connect to WiFi,

No WiFi network is shown, not even the one I connected to when Internet Recovery started,

Can't turn WiFi off no matter how many times I click on it.

I've repeated this 3 times already.

I have followed those articles closely, and have done this many times. After booting up INTERNET Recovery on an Intel-based Mac, the beginning download process is fine but then the entire WIFI system is disconnected. No WIFI signals even show up. The Ethernet cable solution DOES work, but moving my iMac across the house to connect via a wired cable is impractical. I hope Apple can fix this issue quickly.

Please see the previous two replies, which were ignored, if you follow those articles closely, you should find your answer! Hope all goes well! (If all else fails, you can try connecting an Ethernet cable instead of WiFi, create a bootable installer, or take it in to any authorized Apple store or provider.

Create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support

Thanks for the constructive response. It’s possible a software update is needed in order to resolve this problem, in which you may just need to temporarily use the Ethernet solution. (It sounds like the WiFi symbol isn’t even there from your response). Otherwise, you can use a bootable installer using that article I mentioned before, although in my opinion lugging the computer across the home would be easier. I’d say that would be easier than having to lug the computer to an Apple store anyhow. It’s just a means to an end. Anyhow, hope you work it out as easily as possible, I’ve had to do the steps I mentioned earlier myself several times, it’s not ideal, but in the end had to be done. I don’t think, from your description, connecting to another network, (if possible), would help, but you can try that as well if needed.

For an Intel Mac ref: Use macOS Recovery on an Intel-based Mac - Apple Support

Hey there!

I know most likely if it was erased, then restarted, the original OS version for this Mac will be the one available......for you I’m guessing High Sierra or around then.

Anyhow, I would try the different recovery startup combinations with this issue, you can see the different startup combos towards the bottom of this article:

How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

Since you’ve had Newer OS versions installed, you can try all three:

Command R

Command Option R

Shift Option Command R

One of those startup combos should give you the options you need to reinstall the OS. If needed, you can upgrade your OS afterwards, I may start with an OS in between High Sierra and Ventura, which you can find here:

How to download macOS - Apple Support

Hope you get it worked out! Otherwise, if able to I’d connect an Ethernet cable and adapter, etc.
