Airpods Max Head Tracking seems to be Buggy starting from ios 16.0

Airpods Max Head Tracking is not working as desired starting from 16.0 . For me the Head Tracking has been buggy since 16.0 ( and all subsequent releases and beta programs as well). Prior to this it used to work fine. I listen to music (and everything else) in Head Tracking Mode.

The music app ( Default player/ Apple music or any other third party one like melodista ) plays few songs alright in head tracking mode , but then it all of a sudden starts to play in fixed mode ( i believe the issue starts when the track changes) and keeps on playing the song and any subsequent songs in Fixed mode.

Note that at this stage It still shows as Head Tracked mode in control centre ( since that is what i had set originally) but keeps playing in fixed mode and i can't make it play in Head tracked mode again by toggling it in control centre. Basically It kind of becomes sticky to Fixed mode.

The only way i can make it play in Head Tracked mode again is by clicking on my Airpod Max under My devices in Bluetooth (or reconnect bluetooth again) and moving my head to ensure that Head tracking is active again.

The issue has become more frequent with each release. I had raised the issue with Apple but so far it does not seem to have been fixed. I had participated in each of the betas starting from 16.1 and submitted the issue using the feedback app but no resolution /acknowledgement from apple so far.

Please let me know if anyone else is having the issue and also let me know if Apple knows about the issue and working on a fix . Thanks!

This can be replicated quite easily. Start playing an album or something in Apple music ( e.g. Songs Of Innocence album of U2) with Head Tracking mode "ON" and just keep flipping the tracks ( don't have to play whole song ) and keep checking if the Head Tracking is still active after each flip and after a few flips you will be stuck with songs playing in "Fixed Mode" even though you have set to "Head Tracking On" ( and you can temporarily fix it as described in my post above by clicking on the Airpod Max under My Devices in Bluetooth).

Is anyone having this issue? Appreciate if anyone can test and confirm this. I am inclined to think it is a bug since i started seeing this after upgrading to iOS 16.0 and also can temporarily fix the issue (as mentioned above by clicking on the Airpod Max under My Devices in Bluetooth), but if no one is having the issue i might start thinking it is some hardware ( gyroscope faulty?) issue on my headphone /setup.

Thanks!
