How do I change the default app in files app for different file types? - SOLUTION

Since I wasn't able to post the answer into an old thread, I created a new one.

It took me a while to figure that out.

In the files app you can use the share button and chose the standard app you like for that file type.

From now on everytime you open that same file type, it will be opened in that app you chose.

Default file opens when opening app? I know default apps can be selected for opening files... ...but can default files be selected when opening apps? For example, I have a humungous spreadsheet I want to open on a daily basis when opening Numbers, but without having to specifically select it. A small thing, but it would be useful..!

How to change file association on iPhone How do I change the file association on my iPhone? I recently installed an app that has changed the file association from one app to another. That is to say, for instance, .pdf files now appear with the icon of the newly installed app. How can I manage which app a file extension is associated with? I am using an iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 15.5.
