I only want wake alarm on apple watch

I have a Apple Watch Series 3 and iPhone SE 2. In the past I’ve been able to get a charging Apple Watch (not wearing it to sleep) to alarm, without my phone going off, but can’t seem to have that happen again. I’m hoping to have my phone in another location when I go to bed to stop looking at it first thing in the morning (cheers to new habits!) and just use the alarm on Apple Watch to wake me up stead. Now it’s just going off in another location, forcing me to go get it anyway. Please help.

Just wanted to echo this question. Ironically I've found many threads discussing how peoples' iphones aren't sounding the wake-up alarms, only their watch is. That's what we want! haha. To reiterate, the following is what we would like to be able to achieve...

The setup:

1) Both iWatch and iPhone, charging

2) Alarm set using the Sleep functionality

The result:

Alarm only goes off (makes noise/vibrates) on the iWatch. iPhone remains silent.

Thanks for the time and support with this!

Yes, I can get a regular, single alarm to sound on the watch in nightstand mode, but the wake-up alarms set with the sleep setting in health only go off on the iPhone. I’ve tried everything recommended and it still goes to the iPhone only. The reply above implies that nightstand mode doesn’t work with the sleep mode. Is that the case, so I can stop trying to make it work?

Hello 021Cass,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. You can set up an alarm directly on the Apple Watch if you only want the Apple Watch to set off the alarm. You can also use your Apple Watch as a nightstand clock by turning on Nightstand Mode. For more details, this resource can show you how to set up alarms and how to use Nightstand Mode: Add an alarm on Apple Watch - Apple Support

Set an alarm on Apple Watch
1.) Open the Alarms app  on your Apple Watch.
2.) Tap Add Alarm.
3.) Tap AM or PM, then tap the hours or minutes.
4.) This step is unnecessary when using 24-hour time.
5.) Turn the Digital Crown to adjust, then tap the Check button.
To turn the alarm on or off, tap its switch. Or tap the alarm time to set repeat, label, and snooze options.

Set up Apple Watch as a nightstand clock with alarm
1.) Open the Settings app  on your Apple Watch.
2.) Go to General > Nightstand Mode, then turn on Nightstand Mode.
When you connect your Apple Watch to its charger with nightstand mode turned on, it displays charging status, the current time and date, and the time of any alarm you’ve set. To see the time, tap the display or lightly nudge your Apple Watch. Even nudging or tapping the table might work. If you set an alarm using the Alarms app, your Apple Watch in nightstand mode will gently wake you with a unique alarm sound.

We hope these details are helpful. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Cheers.
