presentation remote for keynote on ipad

I recently obtained one of the new M2 iPad Pros. I work as a corporate trainer and teach college classes; thus, I do a lot of presenting, sometimes in collaborative settings. I am able to use my presenter remote to control PowerPoint, but the presenter will not control Keynote.

I am aware of how to use my cell phone as a remote, but I don't want to hand off my phone to other presenters.

Is there a way to use a standard presentation remote with Keynote?

As I stated in my post, I am trying to use a standard presentation remote. I also stated that I am aware of how to use my cell phone.

With PowerPoint, I plug the USB dongle from my presenter remote into my accessory dock, and I am able to control the presentation on my iPad. This does not work with Keynote.

I don’t want to use my iPhone or my Mac (or another iPad) to control a Keynote presentation on my iPad. I want to be able to plug in a standard, non-wifi, presenter remote and control Keynote.

Hi JLW_appleuser,

I use the Logitech Spotlight Presenter with my iPad.

It can be connected via bluetooth with the iPad.

Downside: There is no laser pointer included and the spotlight-function (which gave its name) doesn't exist on iPad. Changing slides works perfectly :-)

Best regards,

In the meantime, let’s check for a software update and make sure that you are running the latest version of iPadOS.

While it isn't inherently assured that an update will resolve the issue, updating to the latest software version for your device can help isolate potential software issues.

Kindly secure a backup and update.

  1. How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
  2. Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue persists, you may have to reach out to the manufacturer of your remote to check if their device is compatible with Keynote.

Take care!
