Opening my iMac today there is a box that said thanks for downloading and asking me to open TransApp. It also suggested other apps I would be interested in. To my knowledge I did not ask for any downloads yesterday. What is this? There is a transept icon pin the app folder, an up and down arrow in a multihued circle. Is this dangerous? How did I get it?
It appears that you unwittingly downloaded this stuff.
Restart your mac in Safe Mode, then go the Applications folder and drag this thing to the trash.
You do NOT need any program to "clean" or "optimize" your mac.

Thanks. I did that and it did not reappear on reopening. I also emptied the trash while still in safe mode. No idea how I got it. I did not knowingly download anything.

I made a mistake. It's TransData. The box is still on my screen after all else is closed. Here's a screen shot
This kind of looks like something from a Aggregate site like Macupdate.
Unless you have an Account with them, I would be very careful about downloading anything from them.
Welcome and more importantly the issues appears to have been fixed.
