phone battery draining

Hi,

I updated my iPhone 6s to iOS 15.7.3 a couple of days ago and since then, the battery has been draining rapidly. It's going from 100% to 1% in a matter of hours. I've done all the things I found online to cut down on battery use but even on Low Power Mode, it went down to 86% in a hour or so. My battery health still says 83%.

Has anyone else experienced this and what more can I do to keep it from draining?

All rechargeable batteries are consumable components that become less effective as they chemically age.

Recent software updates can accelerate that process by adding features that consume more power.

As lithium-ion batteries chemically age, the amount of charge they can hold diminishes, resulting in shorter amounts of time before a device needs to be recharged.

Apple won’t replace the battery until it reaches 80% capacity.

It takes approximately 2 years to go from 100% to 80% capacity.
