Hide page number on second page of section

Hi,

I have a document where I want the numbers to start on my 6th page. I have managed that so far by breaking it the first five pages into individual sections and then selecting the 'Hide on first page of section' option. However, one of my sections is a table of content which spans two pages, and therefore the page number appears on the second page. If I try to turn this page into its own section, it just adds a whole new page. How can I make it so that this second page, which exists just because of the table of content, doesn't have a page number?

Thank you so much.

Hi Wormy96,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand you'd like to have your page numbers start on the 6th page. You may consider having pages one through five be one section and then start numbering in the header or footer on page six, which would be another section. This article has the steps: Add page numbers in Pages on Mac.

"The easiest way to add page numbers to a document is to insert them in a header or footer. The header and footer fields are invisible when they’re empty, but you can see them when you hold your pointer over them.

  1. Move the pointer over the top or bottom of the page until you see the three header or footer fields, then click the field you want to use (left, center, or right).
  2. If headers and footers are turned off for the document, turn them on first (click the Document radio button in the toolbar, click the Document tab, then select the Header and Footer checkboxes).
  3. Click Insert Page Number, then choose a numbering style.
  4. Page numbers increment automatically as you add pages. If your word-processing document has more than one section, you can use different starting numbers and formatting for each section. See Change the starting number and number style."

We hope this helps.

Take care.
