CarPlay is only loading Apple apps

My Apple CarPlay is only loading apps that are by Apple. So Spotify, Waze, everything else just produces a black screen. Spotify still plays music, but I can access the app on CarPlay. Anyone know how to fix this?

In addition to the solution provided by JS, make are all apps and iOS have the latest possible version.

Try force restarting the phone if turning it on and off doesn't solve the problem.

Start by disconnecting the connection to CarPlay. Then close ALL apps, turn off your iPhone, and turn it back on. Reconnect to CarPlay and see if it works now.
