Macbook Air M2 not charging or powering on

Hi all, i recently purchased a macbook air m2 about a month ago. Everything was working smoothly until this morning. It was at ~23% battery charge with a few work related tabs on chrome and then I closed it for the rest of the day (sleep mode and it was not left charging).

This morning it was not turning on. I tried charging it (for ~ 20mins) but neither the magsafe light nor the screen was turning on. I tried another Macbook air m2 charger but this was also unsuccessful. Both chargers were working fine on another Macbook air so I'm left with the deduction that there is software issue with the said macbook air.

All cables, port and chargers are new and unbroken. I tried the 10s power hold and normal press + release of power button but nothing.

Any advice or recommendations provided would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings RLD_arts,

Since the issue is related to charging and power, you may want to start by making sure you're able to get the MacBook Air to take a charge. If it is not charged enough or have enough battery life, it is expected that it will not let you power on the Mac. Check out this information to learn more about what to do if the MacBook Air won't take a charge: If your USB-C power adapter isn't charging your Mac laptop - Apple Support.

If your USB-C power adapter isn't charging your MacBook, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro, first try unplugging the power adapter from the power outlet, waiting a few seconds, and plugging it back in. If that doesn't help, check these things.
• Check power
• Check cabling
• Check for updates.

If you have followed all the steps on that page and still cannot charge the Mac, you may want to reach out to Apple Support directly. You can reach out to them by clicking here: Contact - Official Apple Support or over the phone by calling the number that is most local to your region: Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support.

We hope this information helps you out.

Cheers!

If your MacBook is not charging then it might be due to a simple issue like improper connection, or it could be due to a complex problem like wrong power settings in SMC. At first you can try the below quick fixes to resolve the issue:

1. Check if the MacBook’s power adapter is properly attached to the power source and MacBook's charging port. Remove it once and re-attach it.

2. The MacBook adapter has three parts: Adapter, removable plug, and cable. Detach everything & clean, if there is any carbon deposit, it will get cleaned.

3. Check the adapter and cable for any physical damage.

4. Make sure that you are using the right charger compatible with your MacBook. Every MacBook model requires its specific charging adapter; else, it won't charge.

5. Make sure your adapter isn't overheating. If the adapter overheats, your Mac will shut the power intake until the adapter cools off.

6. Check the charging port on your MacBook and ensure that there is no dust or dirt in it.

Hope the above fixes will resolve the problem and make your MacBook charging normally. If not, then try the below methods to fix any software related issue:

1. Check the battery of your MacBook.

2. Reset SMC.

3. Update or Reinstall macOS.

Hope the above solutions will help you fix the issue!
