Hello ccvanloan,
Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. You can manage spam or junk emails by choosing Mail > Settings > Junk Mail. You can enable junk mail filtering by moving junks email to the Junk mailbox or perform custom actions. Here's more information and the proper steps to take that will help you to manage these emails: Change Junk Mail settings in Mail on Mac - Apple Support
Kind regards.

Hi ccvanloan,
Once you’ve marked an email as junk, you can create a rule in the Mail app to move those messages to the trash instead. Here’s how: Use rules to manage emails you receive in Mail on Mac - Apple Support You may need to play around with it for a bit until it’s performing like you want.
All the best.
Thank you Bryanr14. I have been doing what you suggest but I still end up with 50 to 150 blocked junk emails going to my junk email folder every day. What I'd like to have happen is for blocked emails to go to the trash folder or if they have already been blocked before have them not go to any of my email folders.
Any ideas?
Chuck
