Hey there SeppT,

We'd like to help you regain access to your iCloud Drive. Let's start with confirming more details to better understand the issue, along with ruling out some possible causes:

  1. Any issues when trying to access iCloud Drive from the iCloud website? Here's the link to check: iCloud
  2. Does this only occur with specific files you try to access, or does the message show whenever you try to click upon the iCloud Drive option? The more details you provide, the better we'll understand what's happening.
  3. When did the message start to show?
  4. We noticed from your post that you're running macOS 13.1, but the latest version is macOS 13.2. You can verify this by clicking on the Apple logo at the top left corner of the screen, then on ‘About This Mac’. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update macOS on Mac.
  5. If you already have macOS 13.2 installed, sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart. Check out the section ‘Restart your Mac' here: Shut down or restart your Mac

Cheers!

Thank you for getting back to me.

  1. I have subsequently updated to macOS 13.2, ran first aid and safe start, the problem still persists.
  2. Some files in iCloud can be accessed from Finder, iCloud Drive, Documents...

However when logging on via the website to iCloud, selecting Drive, the error message "Drive has stoped responding" appears there is no access to the files.

The message started after backing up my files from iCloud to an external hard drive. I then deleted old files from my docs on my Mac moved files around and generally just cleaned up my files. I then checked iCloud if all the changes are there which was not the case. I then dragged my Document Folder to iCloud with the result the files were no longer on my Mac but in iCloud and ever since then the problem persists.

Regards

Sepp
