Hello Alymay829!

Provided the child doesn’t know about it, and the child’s phone has iOS 16, you can go to messages, tap edit top left corner, and then tap show recently deleted. Since this is a new feature on iOS 16, there are some people who still don’t know about it and your child may be one of them.
