I can airdrop from my mac to my iphone but not from my iphone to my mac?

I am on the same wifi network, I can SEE my iphone in my mac's air drop. I have air drop set to 'everyone' in both devices. (I see my iphone messages on my mac so they are communicating there) My phone says that my pics have sent, but I don't see them in my recent or downloads folders.

Any ideas?

Airdrop has always been finicky, sometimes it works sometimes it does not for no known reason...

verify your software is up to date…
