I can't seem to even open FCP. Just keep getting the spinning wheel. Made a small video last week, everything was fine. Today can't open.
I use my Final Cup app in an external hard drive. Then I did the option+command key delete preferences and still couldn't open.
Tried to open on the app on the computer, same thing....spinning wheel and no open.
Don't know what to do

Your 4TB drive is full. You need to keep at least 15% free space on the drive. This is especially important on spinning drives.
You have Chrome and its keystone daemons. They kill video applications by hogging the system videotoolbox. See https://chromeisbad.com for why this is, and how to remove them completely. After removing them you will need to delete and reinstall FCP.
Do you have the application in more than one place? Look in your Movies folder of the Untitled library. How big is it? Hold Opt-Cmd and double click the Untitled library. Trash the preferences when it asks you.

If you hold the option key while, or immediately after, launching FCP can you create a new library?
The application is completely separate from the libraries and anything else you do. Its size doesn't change.
When you old opt-cmd to launch the application it resets the preferences and opens a default library called Untitled. Is this Untitled library one of the libraries you use for your projects?

The FCP on the computer is only 4GB because I work out of an external hard drive.
There I have 13 libraries, 516GB.
The external hard drive has 1.17TB available space
PS I know by Apple standards this laptop is "obsolete", still confused why FCP just stopped.

I am having the same issue. All of a sudden FCPX wont launch. I have restarted, removed all external devices, reset NVRAM, and removed and re-installed FCPX. Still will not launch and is not responding. Help!
Don't use anything on that page. It often ends up making more problems than it solves. If you need to clear space on system, copy things to another drive. If you don't need it delete it. Most the drive space is taken my music creation, podcasts, and TV. Can any of that be stored externally?

Trying to get rid of files located under "other" which is 43 GB. Would delete, just don't know where it is to delete it....Anyway Thanks it is at least a start.

I don't know what this means. Can you post a screenshot of where you're seeing this? Other might be important for the system.
I have never found what this was and other tech's didn't know either. The closest was that it was old emails. Anyway thanks for any and all the answers previous.
