AirPods Pro 2 - Sensitive Microphone in Active Noise Cancellation?

Good afternoon all.

My question is for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 1 users. When using AirPods Pro 1 in Active Noise Cancellation mode, touching the microphone part felt like touching metal and there was very little sound (not bothersome). Transparency mode also works very well, when you touch the microphone, you can feel that touch in the ear, which is annoying. Any touch sounds really loud in the ear in transparency mode.

It's been 2 days since I bought Airpods Pro 2, but ANC mode is almost the same as transparency. In Transparency mode, you just hear more of the surrounding sound, in ANC mode, less, but not enough. What bothers me the most is the sound that is felt when touching the microphone in transparency and ANC modes. I can't lie on the bed you know in ANC mode because I can feel the touch of that fabric and the sound is quite loud as if the AirPods are in transparency mode. Then when I'm in the car in ANC mode, I can hear the sound of car tires at 60% volume, or I can't wear a hoodie, because when the piece of the hoodie touches the microphone, I hear the sound of it. So the mic is that sensitive in both modes? Is this your experience or are my Airpods 2 defective? (In the meantime, I thought that it would be fixed if I updated to the latest operating system, but it was not fixed, 5B58 is the last OS).

Hello IlyasKarimov,

We'd like to provide you with a few steps that may be able to assist you with Active Noise Cancellation on your AirPods Pro:

  1. "Make sure that you have the latest software on your connected iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac.
  2. Put both AirPods Pro in your ears and check that Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is turned on.
  3. Clean the mesh located on the top of your AirPods Pro. Sometimes Active Noise Cancellation can be affected if debris or earwax builds up in the area shown below.

If this happens, you might experience:

    • A loss of bass sound
    • An increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise

If the issue persists, we suggest that you reach out to Apple concerning your AirPods Pro. You can follow this link to connect with them: AirPods Replacement, Repair, & Service

Best wishes.

Sadly, I have read this article and this didn't work. I have cleaned them but the thing is they were newly out of the box. I have realized one thing - When I'm only wearing one of them, this doesn't happen but when both are on air, the mics get sensitive and I can’t even wear a hat in ANC because when I move, the fabric touches the mics and irritates my ears so bad. The noise is too loud. Somebody, please help...
