Draft window at bottom of Mailbox screen crashes app when clicking on it

Write another draft which will then also appear at the bottom -- then tap on it, it will unfold together with the intrusive one, and you can delete both by tapping the cross. Not my idea originally but it works!

Let’s see if removing the email account and adding it back again corrects this issue: Add and remove email accounts on iPhone - Apple Support

Remove:

Log out of or remove email accounts

1. Go to Settings  > Mail > Accounts.

2. Tap the email account you want to remove, then do one of the following:

• If you’re removing an iCloud email account: Tap iCloud, tap iCloud Mail, then turn off “Use on this iPhone.”

• If you’re removing another email account: Turn off Mail.

Note: To remove the email account from all apps on your iPhone, tap Delete Account.

Add:

Add email accounts

The first time you open the Mail app on your iPhone, you may be asked to set up an email account—just follow the onscreen instructions.

To add additional email accounts, do the following:

1. Go to Settings  > Mail > Accounts > Add Account.

2. Do one of the following:

• Tap an email service—for example, iCloud or Microsoft Exchange—then enter your email account information.

• Tap Other, tap Add Mail Account, then enter your email account information.

Let us know if that works to remove the email you're having trouble with. Closing and opening mail again it should open normally.

Update: I wiped the phone and installed from the last backup. The draft message at the bottom finally disappeared.

I've removed all my mail applications.

I've turned my iphone on an off.

I've saved another draft e-mail.

When I reload my mail application nothing changes.

The annoying draft e-mail remains.

Please help how I can remove it.

I have the same issue and tried deleting and adding back in the related email account, but the draft message is still there and still causing my Mail app to crash every time I click on it. I also tried restarting my phone and that didn’t work.

Any other ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

This worked for me.

Start a new email.

Save it as a draft (swipe down at the top of the message).

You should now have two draft emails at the bottom of the screen.

Tap or swipe up on the drafts and they will both appear.

Touch the “X” to close out both messages.

I have the same problem but nothing from the above helped so far. Running OS: 16.4.1

What I did:

• checked drafts folder, it's empty
• remove all mail accounts, restart iPhone, add a mail account -> draft-banner still is there
• created new mail and save as draft -> no other draft appears at the bottom

So what ever I do, there is this draft mail at the bottom of the mail and when clicking it, Mail crashes.
