Printing

How do you print only a portion of a document on a new iPad? Even if I highlight that portion my printer refuses to print it but prints the whole document.

Assuming that you have a multipage document, you simply chose the page range - or individual pages - from the print dialogue…

Either select a range of pages from the page-range, or un-tick the thumbnail images for pages that you don’t want to print:

Without a lot of extra work, requiring you to save the document and crop or use markup tools to select a small section of the page, you can’t easily “print” a just small section of a page. If this is what you are attempting to achieve, perhaps the easiest way to accomplish the task is to ensure that the section you wish to print is visible on the screen. Next trigger a screenshot:

Take a screenshot on your iPad - Apple Support

The screenshot will open in its preview screen. At each corner - and at the centre of each edge - is a handle. Use the handles to crop the visible image to show just the area that you wish to print. When you are done, use the Share button at top-right of the screen to expose the Share Sheet - and from the menu choose Print.
