Yes, it's fairly similar. You edit the file, and if stored in the iCloud Drive, those changes and then be accessed from any other device connected to the same iCloud account. iCloud is a synchronization service, which means any changes or deletions made on one device are then reflected on iCloud and on any other device connected to the iCloud account. So if you delete a file on one device it deletes everywhere for instance.
