Because my iPad is so old, I cannot update it anymore. As a consequence, I cannot download any of my old applications! I keep getting asked for my password, over, and over, and over again. I type it in, but all I receive is a message that it cannot be updated anymore. So I have lost all my applications. Is there any way to restore these so I can continue my previously purchased/downloaded apps???

The way would be to purchase a newer iPad.
Then use it for tasks that don't require the latest software: use it to play movies on your TV or read books,
It cannot run a new version of iOS.
It cannot download any new version of apps.
How is it still serviceable?
you are SOL. I have a similar problem - the older iOS uses a different authentication method so you will get stuck in an endless loop of pizza
Hi sberman, already purchased a new 10th Generation, but I don't want to throw the old one out. It's still perfectly serviceable.
I can still use the Apple apps on it to listen to Apple Music, for example; however, I don't have all MY apps that I've used for all these years. So, I can't listen to Spotify, for example.
