I keep getting prompts when installing software to enter my Mac Login and Password, but I cannot remember my MacMini log in name or password...i'm used to not using a password on home machine, I can't find away around this!

I keep getting prompts when installing software to enter my Mac Login and Password, but I cannot remember my MacMini (2012) log in name or password...i'm used to not using a password on home machine, I can't find away around this!

I'm trying to install an Epson printer driver, and it is asking me to enter my local password, which I don't remember, or uninstall a crap program, or install Malwarebytes, as recommended in someone else's struggle with this issue...it keeps giving me the same request: Enter your local (admin) password. Never works.

Then it prompts me to reset password, and it won't take my apple password, that I used, for instance, to sign into this site, and on my iPad and so forth...it works...it tells me that I've entered an unrecognized password.

I've read several similar threads but I've not been able to get this resolved.
