How to control TV power on/off with AppleTV 4k remote via IR?

I’d like to be able to control my tv(actually a projector) with the Apple TV Remote. My projector does not support HDMI-CEC. Furthermore the AppleTV is connected to an A/V Reciever. So the simple ask is to allow the AppleTV remote to learn the power function from the existing projector remote and replicate it when I press the power button on the AppleTV remote. Apple allows this to be done for volume controls. Why not Power?

Also the learning mode for a new device uses the volume up down buttons for setup. There are no volume buttons on my projector remote. I tried faking it by using the brightness controls but then all it did was change the brightness constantly, even after I turned the control off!!! I have to reset the remote by holding down buttons. Must be a bug.
