I know the subject topic was discussed and relpied, but i was not able to post my reply for it so decided to renew it as a new post. In short, the solusitons offered in the original post did not help in my case. Request for help, thanks

I was able to get rid of the random unknown notification sound by changing my mail app settings to the below:

So i disavbled the new mail notifications and it stoped the sound. But prior to that, i sent to each email account new messages to see which ones "poinks", none did upon recieving a new message. I did check the junk mail notifications as well, and yet no sound was detected.
I think I know where the problem lies: i changed the setup the wasy it sounds the noification for VIP emails only and it makes more sense to me now as it was sounding the alarm for all new messages as the notificatoins was set to Inbox only, i will post an update if it did not work

If it sounds the same as your current system alert sound...
...then it is happening because you are doing something alarming!
Did not quite get your response.
If the system alert sound is sonar, and you get a sonar sound from time to time, it's the system sound, because you are doing something that causes a system alert.
Update: i opened the mail app as i quit it before. With the sound notification off, i can still hear the notification sound
