iOS 16.3.1 now only in SOS mode..

I just updated to iOS 16.3.1 and now instead of showing me the connection bars or service in the upper right, I only see the SOS sign. Before I updated I had absolutely no issues ever with this and now with iOS 16.3.1 I do.. how do I fix this?

I am having the same issue with SOS coming on after the update and I am within range and do not need it on. I have attempted to turn on airplane mode, turn it off, turn off my phone and turn it back on- still doesn’t work. I went into my settings, it’s like it’s not reading my SIM card. I have gone to settings>cellular>SIMs and my “personal line” is off. I have tried to toggle it back on but it won’t stay on. It’s like my SIM card isn’t recognized.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so, how did you correct it?

FYI, I had the same problem after updating my iPhone 13 Mini to iOS 16.3.1. I fixed the issue by going to Settings->Cellular. Under the SIMs section, make sure your "Primary" line is On. For some reason, after updating, the "Use as Cellular Data" line was On, which prevented me from turning on my Primary line.

In summary, my fix was:

1) Make sure "Used as Cellular Data" is Off

2) Turn On "Primary"

I double checked this gave my phone and data again on my phone. Hope that helps!
