Can't get into my New MacBook Pro

I just got a new Macbook Pro, opened it up and was asked where I would like to migrate info from. I migrated my applications and administrating sections, but not my user materials because they included hundreds of gigs. At some point in the process I was prompted to provide my password with admin user or something like that already identifying me. I used my normal password that I use for every device. The computer restarted and an admin (I think) screen appears without my user info and prompts me for a name and a password. I've tried my old name. I've tried admin, anything I can think of and then my old password. Nothing works.

I've gone on-line and found old entries for rebooting with command r to get into the terminal and reset passwords, but none of these workarounds work with this computer.. This is the macbook pro with m2 chip.

Help.
