Apple Maps app does not work accurately in NYC walking or driving

I was in NYC yesterday for some appointments. I used Apple Maps on my CarPlay to get down into the city. Once we entered the city, there was a lot of lag and confusion about our exact location. Mind you, I have the latest iPhone with the latest iOS, Full 5G+ signal, locations on for maps, cell data on...and it was pretty much worthless. I reset the phone, hoping that would fix the issue, but it did not. It was infuriating. I ended up using Google Maps to walk around and had no issues. WHY?!

I thank you in advance for any feedback.

Do you also have Wi-Fi on? It’s especially important in a city, where the line of sight to the GPS satellites are frequently obscured by tall buildings, and the iPhone’s AGPS (Assisted GPS) uses the locations of known Wi-Fi networks to navigate.

Hello DaveOJr,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities about your experience with Maps. You need to be able to depend on being able to use the app when needed. Does this happen in a lot of locations, or only the other day when you were running appointments in NYC?

Were you able to report these issues you were experiencing using Maps? If not, see If Maps isn't working on your Apple device - Apple Support on how to report this information to Apple.
