Anyone else's mouse frequently double-clicking instead of single-clicking?

When I single-click my mouse (Evoluent VerticalMouse 4, corded) it frequently double-clicks. It occurs every two or three clicks. Altering the double-click speed in the system preferences makes no difference.

I have reset the PRAM (holding down Command-Option-P-R keys while restarting) to no avail.

I have two of these (Evoluent VerticalMouse 4, corded) and it happens with both of them. Unfortunately, there is no current driver for this mouse. The problem does not occur with the Apple mouse (which I’m unable to use due to wrist and shoulder issues) or with my Wacom tablet.

Is anyone able to recommend a fix for this please?
