OK - I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but I seem to have made headway …

I rang Apple again today and spoke to two guys who seem to have unlocked the problem I’ve been having. Caveat: I upgraded to Windows 10 for free - plus I have the latest iTunes installed.

The Apple tech guy advised me to go to Edit then Preferences. A box popped up which showed that syncing with the cloud wasn’t ticked. This certainly wasn’t something I’d done - I can only assume that it somehow happened automatically. I ticked it again and suddenly my iCloud returned.

This seems to have fixed the issue I was having BUT [1] iTunes on my PC spent ages syncing with iCloud and in doing so randomly generated loads of duplicate tracks; [2] these then filled up my phone - it somehow changed the automatic downloads switch, which I know I set to ‘off’ … so I’m having to weed through the music on my phone, removing the downloaded tracks which should never have gone on there.

BUT (again!) I appear to be free of the problem … fingers crossed?!?!?

Hello.

i have had the same problem as you and many others. After speaking to apple support, it is down to windows 7 or 8.1 not receiving updates anymore.

I went to the Microsoft page and downloaded Media Creation Tool, then you can download windows 10 for free and keep all your files stored on your laptop.

You will need storage requirements to be able to download windows 10

Now my icloud library updates and works great.

hope this helps

I solved mine 0x80090302 error by going windows 10 (from windows 8.1). symptoms basically the same:

  1. error 0x80090302 the very moment once Genius finishes scanning and should start uploading data
  2. exactly same happening on fresh _empty_ library
  3. browsing store seems fine
  4. Help -> Diagnostics network is all green
  5. BUT Help -> iPhone/iPad/iPod topic throws error ("you are not connected to internet")

my really humble opinion is also towards some change on network stack / tls not backward compatible.

i'm fine with things going depretiated, or even if some generation os systems / client sw will be denied to connect (because of being build around broken / or unmaintained versions of dependencies), but is that much to expect at least some info - "we are patching our services network, it might break your archaic combo of OS/SW, if it happens, you are on your own - be smart - upgrade" ? definitelly better than leaving customers to waste days, weeks months by trying to figure out what is happening ?

my 2 cents Apple must be avare of this - they have reports / logs from their systems, right ?

The genius feature probably needs to interact with the iTunes Store. Apple may have made a change that affects connections from older builds of iTunes. If you create a new empty iTunes library (hold down shift as you launch iTunes) are you able to turn on iCloud Music Library then?

You can also try holding down shift+ctrl when opening iTunes which opens it in its safe mode, and sometimes helps with odd issues.

OK - so I may have made some headway …?

I rang Apple Support (got there through the app) and spoke to someone who ended up being very helpful. It took a while for the guy who took my call to grasp what I was talking about, but when he did, we seemed to make a bit of progress

Long story short, the error seems to be linked to Microsoft dumping Internet Explorer. This has generated some kind of glitch in iTunes/iCloud that is creating the problems we are all experiencing. I directed him to this thread and he must have done some other research as he eventually confirmed that this is something Apple is now tracking, and is compelled to address. No idea how long it’ll take, but he assured me that it’s a live issue and needs to be dealt with, as there’s a financial dimension to this. He said he’d update me … here’s hoping he does.

So I would say ringing them is deffo worthwhile - fingers crossed it can be sorted soon …

I chatted with Support a couple days ago. Online chat, then they escalated to phone call. Having already done the suggestions in this thread and others, and specifically stating that, will get you through the script faster; I didn't really have to do anything aside from trying to connect one more time. End result was sent some logs to support for programming team to look at. Might get a call back soon, but obviously not a simple fix

Same error here too. Randomly stopped syncing with the apple music library the night of 2/14. Everything I've downloaded a copy of still exists as a file on the PC, but can't do anything with them. When I try to enable the iCloud library, I can see all the songs pop up in the library list for a moment until this error comes in.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled, created new libraries, deleted genius files, etc, even tried a system restore to a point prior to when it stopped working, and nothing. But I can go to my other PC, enable the library, and everything is there. So there has to be something specific about this computer that is not cooperating. Win 7 32-bit (yes I know it's old but I haven't needed a new laptop in a while)

Its going to be a long drawn out issue i'm led to believe (unless of course we upgrade to Windows 10 or above)

Apple is fully aware of the issues which has been happening since February but its not high of their priority list apparently. So unless all of us that are having issues (any they must be thousands) bombard Apple support it wont get resolved as easily as we had hoped.
