  1. Turn off iCloud Music Library.
  2. Turn off Genius.
  3. Close iTunes.
  4. Delete iTunes Library Genius.itdb from your iTunes folder, if found.
  5. Open iTunes.
  6. Turn on iCloud Music Library (which also turns on Genius).

I want to also note that this first happened to me on Tuesday night, but then I was able to restart my computer and for the rest of the night everything worked fine. Then on Wednesday when I opened iTunes I came across the same problem again so I tried to restart and shut down my computer, multiple times, only this time I couldn't get it to work like I did yesterday.

So I’ve visited my local Apple Store this morning and spoken to a guy that seemed to be clued up, they have a active iTunes working in the store on Windows 10, and I explained the situation regarding the iCloud not connecting and the genius message for over 2 weeks. He said that he himself was aware of the situation and asked if by any chance before this all happening had I downloaded and updated the latest IOS for iPhone via my computer. In fact only a few moments before I got the genius error message my iPhone SE had finished updating the latest update which was downloaded from ITunes, but the guy wasn’t certain this could be the issue. His recommendations were:

update to Windows 10 or purchase a whole new system if the laptop is more than 5 years old. Surely there must be a Fix for this available. Does anyone else have any updates

Ohh this is just a joke now, in the past 15 years of having I-Tunes I’ve not had any issues, now apart from the iCloud and genius errors it takes time to load I-Tunes as it says syncing library. Ok yes I’ve still got my many playlists on my I-Phone but for me it’s taken years of keeping my 40+ playlists up to date with both purchased items and Apple Music songs, obviously the purchased songs have remained in the playlists. For a dedicated Apple user for many years that has spend £££ with them and this happens. Please offer a fix on the issue

Hey everybody,

I'm going to call Apple Support now, but I'm sure turingtest2 is correct - nothing's going to happen unless each of us calls them. It also may help to click the "me too" button at the top of this post, if you haven't already. Anything we can do to escalate this...don't take "you need to update iTunes" for an answer! (Politely, of course)

I chatted with Support a couple days ago. Online chat, then they escalated to phone call. Having already done the suggestions in this thread and others, and specifically stating that, will get you through the script faster; I didn't really have to do anything aside from trying to connect one more time. End result was sent some logs to support for programming team to look at. Might get a call back soon, but obviously not a simple fix

It is a major issue on operating systems below windows 10 so the fix from apple Im sure will not be in the short term. It’s not just the genius/iCloud error, there’s a few issues that’s causing I-tunes to run slower than usual on the older windows systems. But I’m optimistic as a previous post said that the genius/iCloud issue is causing financial factors for Apple so hopefully the issues are rectified quickly for us all

When you updated to Windows 10 did you also update the version of ITunes to Windows 10 version? If you still running the problem version of ITunes you used on the earlier version than apparently the problem will transfer over unless ITunes is also updated.

I'm getting frustrated with the situation now as I don't see why we should upgrade to a new Windows version all for the this problem.
