OK - I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but I seem to have made headway …

I rang Apple again today and spoke to two guys who seem to have unlocked the problem I’ve been having. Caveat: I upgraded to Windows 10 for free - plus I have the latest iTunes installed.

The Apple tech guy advised me to go to Edit then Preferences. A box popped up which showed that syncing with the cloud wasn’t ticked. This certainly wasn’t something I’d done - I can only assume that it somehow happened automatically. I ticked it again and suddenly my iCloud returned.

This seems to have fixed the issue I was having BUT [1] iTunes on my PC spent ages syncing with iCloud and in doing so randomly generated loads of duplicate tracks; [2] these then filled up my phone - it somehow changed the automatic downloads switch, which I know I set to ‘off’ … so I’m having to weed through the music on my phone, removing the downloaded tracks which should never have gone on there.

BUT (again!) I appear to be free of the problem … fingers crossed?!?!?

Ohh this is just a joke now, in the past 15 years of having I-Tunes I’ve not had any issues, now apart from the iCloud and genius errors it takes time to load I-Tunes as it says syncing library. Ok yes I’ve still got my many playlists on my I-Phone but for me it’s taken years of keeping my 40+ playlists up to date with both purchased items and Apple Music songs, obviously the purchased songs have remained in the playlists. For a dedicated Apple user for many years that has spend £££ with them and this happens. Please offer a fix on the issue

I'm having this same problem on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with iTunes v12.10.11.2. The weird thing is that I can turn on iCloud Music Library and it will pull in all of my songs briefly with the dotted cloud symbol next to each one. After about 5 seconds it goes away and is replaced by the error message that Genius results can't be updated.

This is very frustrating and there's absolutely no reason I should have to update to Windows 10 just to get a smaller incremented version of iTunes (v12.12).

Updating to Windows 10 doesn’t work, even with the latest version of iTunes. I still have no contact with iCloud - the cloud symbol has totally vanished from my iTunes library and while I can rip tracks to iTunes on my computer, they won’t cross over to my other Apple devices. Something fundamental has gone wrong. I’m gonna try chasing them tomorrow and can but hope I get someone who will listen to me …
