iPhone too old?

Question

Some guy gave me an iPhone with iOS 12, and it says I need to update the OS.

So, I did that update on my iPAD, but what good does that do the iPhone?

The iPhone wont transfer that update from my iPad, and the iPhone wont connect online.

So, do I just toss the old iPhone? Kinda bummed about it, my cellphone was stolen last week, and I am “alone in the multiverse”

Oh, more trouble - this post asks me to “choose a topic” but the menu wont drop down,

Gosh I a. Some kind of hipeless eh?

Your iPhone 6 can only update as far as iOS 12.5.7 which you may find will not support some newer apps.
