Clean My Mac question?

I have a MacBook Air M2 and when I purchased it I also purchased Clean My Mac (a suggestion from a You Tube video I saw).

I have been having no problems (that I am aware of having) using the application but stumbled on negative comments about Clean My Mac and other, similar, programs.

If I uninstall Clean My Mac, what safe utilities are suggested/recommended to replace the one's in Clean My Mac (e.g., "delete purgeable files", get rid of system junk, etc.?).

Thank you in advance to anyone that responds.

you would do well to uninstall CMM. all it is good for is causing major issues within macOS. and there are NO other apps I would recommend for that purpose. macOS itself does a really good job of maintaining itself.

I would recommend that you read Effective defenses against malware and other threats - Apple Community. it's a long article, but worth your time to read every word.

Q - " delete purgeable files"

A - Purgeable files are the Total Domain and Managed by the Operating System

A - When the Operating System deems additional space is required, it will transition partition of the " Purgeable " space back to the Empty Space on the drive.

A - AFAIK, there is no User Method to hasten this transition process

A - It can take a few days before the Operating System will relocate some of the Purgeable to Empty Space

Any of the below should be removed per Developers Instructions or better still, Never be Installed on this computer ever.

1 - Disk Cleaner

This will include CleanMyMac , aka “ BrickMyMac “

MacKeeper,

Dr Cleaner Pro Plus

Open Cleaner one Pro

I've recently been getting ads on Facebook which says that

Clean my Mac is "endorsed" by Apple or "notarised" by Apple

(whatever that means.) yet all the advice on here is not to touch

it with a bargepole. I notice too that a lot of the Mac magazines

recommend it. It is so hard to make an informed decision about

this. Because there is so much misinformation out there. Do

Apple actually say anything about it?
