I am trying to sign into my new LG TV appletv app but I have two factor identification

Okay so every time I sign into a device I get a code, except trying to set up apple TV on the Apple TV app on my new LG TV as there is no way for the LG TV to allow the verification to happen. It just keeps giving me an error and says unable to verify account. Brilliant move on the part of teh app developers for both Apple and LG.

The Apple TV app on smart TVs and third party streaming devices would support two-factor authentication through in-app options. It does not depend on LG functionality.

If you get an “unable to verify” error message, with or without prompt for TFA verification code, then the error may not be about TFA, but instead about communication with the remote Apple servers.

- Please verify that the TV system software is up-to-date.

- Verify that the Apple TV app is up-to-date, if not done automatically.

- Verify that your router or firewall doesn’t block Apple authentication servers, in case you made custom changes.

- Verify that your devices and router use a good DNS, like the one from your ISP, which gets updated with all the server names that Apple might use. Again, only applies if you made custom changes.

- Verify that your TV has the correct date, time, and time zone, as Apple may be more strict about that than other content providers (for TLS secure connection reasons).

Else I would suggest to contact an expert from the Apple Support staff for further assistance. Contact Apple for support and service (phone numbers) or start your support request online (chat/email/callback).

Hi DJmotorcop,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you’re having an issue setting up the Apple TV app on your LG TV.

We’re happy to assist.

We recommend checking out the steps in the section titled "How to get the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app" from the article here: Get the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app on your smart TV or streaming device - Apple Support

1) Go to your device's app store and search for the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app. If you don't see the app that you're looking for, check your device's compatibility.1
2) Download the app.
3) Open the app and follow the instructions to complete setup.

If you're not signed in with your Apple ID, open the app and go to Settings > Accounts. Then choose a sign in option.

*Sign In On Mobile Device: Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code on the TV screen. Then follow the instructions on your mobile device.

*On This TV: Use your TV remote to manually sign in with your Apple ID and complete setup.

If you can't watch content, you might need to get your Apple ID ready for purchases.

Don't have an Apple ID? Learn how to create a new Apple ID. Or if you forgot your Apple ID password, learn how to reset it.

The reason why we are recommending the steps above is because they will show you how to set up the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app on your compatible device.

Please let us know the outcome after giving the above steps a try.

Cheers!
