iPhone 5c activation lock removal?

hello, i hope i’m asking this in the right place because i’m new to this. i have an iphone 5c that i got at launch in 2013. i recently pulled it out but realized it’s tied to my old apple id that i’m locked out of (i created it with a fake birthday and there is no way to get back in). i put in a request to remove the icloud lock from it, but it’s now been denied 3 times. i have the original proof of purchase and submitted it with my request. the phone isn’t in lost mode. why would they not unlock it?

also, it’s important that this device gets removed from my old icloud because it’s running ios 7.0, which is incredibly rare now. i never update my phones for this reason. if the icloud was removed, i have a way of resetting it while keeping the ios version. this phone is worth easily upwards of $250, that’s why i’m so upset. please help

you don’t know what you’re talking about. the 5c you found is likely on ios 10 right? i don’t think you understand that people actually collect iphones on older ios versions. i do and i have friends who do. the battery being bad and app compatibility is 100% irrelevant.

Without discussing the collectability of or the nostalgia value of or the usefulness of or other such details, Apple will not remove Activation Lock from an iPhone without sufficient proof of ownership. Proof such as the original purchase receipt from Apple or from an Apple reseller showing the iPhone 5c serial number or IMEI. Without sufficient evidence, you will have a static exhibit.

what are you talking about? the iphone 5 was actually the first iphone to support 4g LTE, and so does the 5c. it doesn’t support VoLTE, meaning that it jumps back to EDGE for calls because 3g has been deactivated. i have put my sim card into an iphone 5 and had no issue getting LTE service and speeds.

it also seems like you missed the point of my question. i didn’t ask if the 5c was obsolete. also, there are not “very few left,” there are a plethora of them available on the used market.

i am an apple collector. i don’t collect based on what’s obsolete and what isn’t. for the 5c to be running ios 7.0 is considered extremely rare because the phone cannot be downgraded to that version. so among collectors, my 5c on ios 7.0 is easily worth $250. thanks for the unhelpful reply.
