Rotate video with QuickTime

I find instructions for rotating a video with QuickTime. But when I try to do it, the "Rotate" choices are greyed out.

I have a 2015 iMac. I'm running Monterrey. QuickTime version 10.5 I'm trying to rotate an .MOV file taken with my Nikon J1

Hey hrabstan,

Are these the steps you've tried: Rotate or flip a clip in QuickTime Player on Mac - Apple Support

  1. In the QuickTime Player app on your Mac, open the movie.
  2. Choose View > Show Clips, then select the clip.
  3. The selected clip is outlined in yellow.
  4. From the Edit menu, choose to rotate the clip left or right, or flip it horizontally or vertically.
  5. When you’re finished, click Done.

If so, we recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly for a closer look: Contact - Official Apple Support

Take care.
