HP Officejet 7612 issue...

The above printer/scanner has not worked as a print due to - print head missing or cannot be found issue- but scanner worked.... or should I say did work!

Took scanner to neighbours who runs Windows, it worked no problem, as he is a very knowledgable tech person, he came around in an attempt to find out why it won't work whilst connected to my Mac. All attempts failed, although throwing up some strange things!

One possibility was to upgrade 'firmware', from HP, message received 'Apple will not allow download, cannot check for malicious software. Why? Is this the issue?

Printer/scanner can find ink supply,Picking up USB connection, connection status 'active', serial number found, name found, Installation status 'not installed'!!!

Attempted USB/Ethernet/Wi-fi connections without any scanning taking place.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

After spending time going through suggested help without success, provided telephone contact for assistance from HP Technical support who advised their system shows that HP Smart (ver 14.2.1) is not compatible with Apple mac OS Ventura 13.1. Advised by them that Apple would need to provide an update to their software to allow this to work.
Attempted to upgrade to HP Smart Easy Start - 6, received:-

HP Service gave advice on a way around this, using USB connection, Scanner worked!
Although unable to use Wireless or Ethernet connectivity, which is a shame as printer/scanner is in a different room to iMac...Wireless previously worked OK.
So how to get a software fix?

I have never been able to get my HP 8620 to work wirelessly. I have never had an issue with the cable connection.

My way forward is to use what works.

You can see if there is old driver...to resolve you issue.

If you can't find an updated driver for your printer give the open-source, free Gutenprint driver a try.

Yeah I agree, I'll have to use cable which means lifting this heavy printer/scanner from one room to another to use, which is a pain. It did initially work wirelessly once, shame as purchased as a wireless printer.

Guess the wireless problem may also be linked to Apple Mac o/s, like scanner software.... although my tech friend might not give up trying to get to working!

well if that is the best you can figure out for your work flow.. I think I would buy a new printer or hire an office designer with some creative insights 😉
