Typing Chinese pinyin tones on iPad, iPhone, watch and even Mac.

Typing pinyin with tones (not characters) in pages in Mac is done using ABC Extended and option a fīrst tone, option e sécond tone, option v thǐrd tone and option ` foùrth tone. But on an iPad it is even easier, use the keyboard on the Chinese setting, 简体拼音, and write the word, holding the vowel you want to show the tone (of). So the trick is not to use the English keyboard at all. not a question, but when I went to look this up I found lots of confusion and no final answer. so here is mine. works same on iPhone. and on Apple Watch !

iPad (10th gen) WiFi, Cellular
