Mac won't communicate with printers

This is a new problem that hasn't existed before. I can print from my iPad but not from my Mac. This tells me that the problem is with the Mac, not the printer. My Mac will not print on another nearby printer that it had been set up with wirelessly, but now does not recognize.

I've re-installed the printer, rebooted, re-set, re-entered my router password. I have installed updates in all devices. I have been able to get the printer to work once then when I come back the next day I have the same problem. I've searched the internet and followed all the instructions give for this problem but nothing seems to help.

The two printers are HP5255 and HP8028. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Hi lp5402,

Since you're unable to print from your Mac, we recommend that you try the steps in the link below.

Solve printing problems on Mac

To perform the steps in the article we suggested above, click and open the link, read the subheadings below, and try each step.

1) Try to resume printing

2) Try to print from another app

3) Turn off Print Dialog Extensions

4) Check the printer

5) Add the printer again to create a new printer queue

6) Make sure you have the latest software

The reason why we are recommending the steps above is because they will show you how to solve printing problems on your Mac.

Please let us know the outcome after giving the above steps a try.
