Unknown Error 7004

I have tried connecting both my iPhone 11 and my iPad Air 4G (both running iOS 15.7) to my new M1 Macbook Pro (running Monterey 12.6.3) and have gotten "Unknown Error 7004" repeatedly. All three devices are confirmed to be signed in with the same Apple ID. I was hoping to upgrade my iOS devices to iOS 16.#.#, but will not do so until I can run a backup.

If you are attempting to connect your iPhone to your Mac while using a Bluetooth connection, then it is not going to work. You cannot connect an iOS device to a macOS device with a Bluetooth connection.

You may create a backup of your device on your mac by following the instructions in this guide published by Apple 👉 How to back up your iPhone with your Mac
