I am so sorry to hear that. If you are in the app Photos, then deleted pictures are kept in the "Recently Deleted" section for 30 days. After that, they are erased forever.

Other than that, I can only repeat the things you may have already thought of. Picture files moved from the Finder to the Trash may still be there, if no one has emptied the trash. That, again, erases the files forever.

If you have Time Machine backups, we may be able to help you with that. Also, copies may still exist in the storage of the original cameras or phones.

I hope you can reproduce the pictures. Sometimes it's not possible. But memories are more important the pictures.

If the pictures are in the Recently Deleted folder in the app Photos, then you find that in the top section of the sidebar as shown here:

Each picture shows the number of days it has left until it's erased. You can choose pictures you'd like to save by clicking on them. Then you control-click (or right-click) on one of the pictures, and you get the little menu that includes "Recover." Clicking on this will return the pictures to the Library and to any albums they had been in. The Library window shows all the pictures together, and you can hunt through there to find the pictures you restored and any other interesting ones.

One thing-- the pictures will be scattered all over, so you may want to, Before You Restore, hit "Get Info" and type a word in the keywords section that you can search for later.

I hope you find them.
