Slow tap-to-click response

I have always worked with windows trackpads and I love the fact that it respons very fast when you make a single tap on the trackpad that mimics a left mouse click.

On my Mac Ventura however, there is always a small but significant delay that hinders my workflow a lot. The delay is about 1/4-3/4th of a second, but for working fast and making many clicks this is very cumbersome.

I also don't understand why this delay should be there apart from what has also been coined here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1757606.

How can I get rid of this delay after a single click? Any help would be appreciated.

I don't want to disable dragging as that feature is really useful.

To trouble shoot further you can:

to test unplug all third party peripherals

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

—A SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Takes a bit longer to get to the login screen, does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, font cache, etc., third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

a reboot will put it back to normal mode.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most* extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS
