3 finger drag delay

I'm using a trackpad on the Mac studio. I use audio software and generally like to work quickly. Moving/adjusting audio/midi with dragging is a constant action. I enabled 3 finger drag as I much prefer that to having to "click in" and drag. But there is about a half second delay between the release of your fingers and when the cursor actually "lets go."

I believe this is likely intentional, in case you "run out of trackpad" you can have time to reposition and engage again without the drop happening where you don't want, but I actually never have to do that. But I do drop and then move constantly, and with this delay, it either slows me down considerably or I screw up and forget and a clip/note is adjusted incorrectly.

Is there any way (including terminal functions) to change or even better, remove this delay? I don't need it personally.

Hey, I'm the exact same situation. I edit a lot in Pro Tools and enabled this trackpad feature, but the delay when I let go to proceed with an edit is driving me NUTS!

Hoping there's a way to disable this delay.

BTW, the only workaround I've found so far is to tap immediately after I complete the drag, but that's tricky and it's a bit redundant to tap with 3 fingers and then tap a second time to release and avoid the delay.

A way to reduce it, or how about a way to turn it off completely and have the option to press a modifier key (say Option, Control or even Shift) for enabling it momentarily? That way you can still do a long drag and avoid dropping a file or object in the wrong place.

BTW, this thread was the first that came up in my Google search, but then saw other pages discussing the same issue and seems like a lot of people are quite frustrated by it. In some discussions they talk about some sort of "software patch" that enables "additional" trackpad functionality. I wouldn't risk installing third party non-branded software "patches".
