M1 Macbook Pro | SD card slot stopped working

Hi!

For almost a year my SD card slot worked fine but since a couple of weeks ago it stopped working at all. I've been told at the Apple Store that a clean install of the OS would help though after wasting a day doing that it still is not working.

Searching for that issue shows me that there are many people affected by it but I don't seem to be able to find anyone with a solution to that problem.

Anyone that can help with more information?

Hi anso47,

To clarify, did the Apple Store rule out any hardware issue with the slot? Your Mac comes with a built-in diagnostic. We'd recommend looking over the steps for your Mac model here to access it.

Bear in mind, the steps do differ for an Apple Silicon or M1/M2 Mac vs an Intel one.
